Question: How hard is it to start and be decent at soccer completely new to the game?
(Posted by: Tyler L on 2010-02-08 01:17:21)
I've always liked soccer. I am a fan of it as much as anyone else. I watch FSC all day. I play FIFA all day. I keep up wit football with a lot of leagues. I'm rooting for Korea for World Cup. However I've always been a basketball player. I've played AAU, and high school basketball. I am a sophomore in Orange County, California playing on a JV basketball team right now, starting Shooting Guard. I have Handles, Quickness, and decent Shooting and SMART wit the ball(iq). I'm 5'10 and weigh 135lbs , very skinny. I am not sure how it is in the rest of the US, but from where i am from, HS basketball Coaches are heavily disliked. They can be tyrants, play favoritism, or just be a dick. They can play some people who dont deserve play time, and bench people who do. HS bball coachs are just fked up that way over here in the OC. My question is how hard is it to play soccer and make the tryouts. i have NO expierence whatsoever playing. from playin bball, i have somewhat athletic ability. and watchign soccer some soccer knowledge. but other than that i have never played soccer. I was wondering what are the chances are that I have if i practice, and make the team? I really have a passion for soccer, and i want to play it while still in high school. My other question is that are Soccer coaches the same way as HS basketball coaches? Thanks to all who reply. ;D |

Depends on the individual. if you have natural balance and stamina and know how to kick a ball, you can progress very quickly. the rest is just positioning, spacial awareness and tactical know-how which i'm sure youre familiar with ( albeit a different sport ) and can learn this over time. as for football coaches in the US, i have no idea. |
